An Altoona man is behind bars today after he allegedly staged a home invasion, last February, in order to steal his grandfather-in-law’s life savings of an estimated $2 million from his Altoona home. 29 year old Andrew Booker has been charged with one felony count each of theft by unlawful taking, among various other charges. Stolen in the staged burglary were numerous items including a safe that contained nearly $2 million dollars in cash. The charges came after a nearly year-long investigation. Authorities note that from May until August of last year, Booker, who was unemployed spent nearly $140,000, that investigators know of. Sadly most of the $2 million has yet to be recovered. Booker’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 31st. Unable to post $350,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison.
