The Pennsylvania State Game Commission has decided to put on hold a plan to reintroduce the American marten to state woodlands. One commission member says he needed more time to review the plan. The marten — a type of weasel about the size of a mink — disappeared from state woodlands a century ago. The commission says educational and outreach events — as well as a survey that drew almost one-thousand comments — shows significant support for the plan. Most of those who attended a commission meeting to discuss the plan this past weekend spoke in favor of the proposal.
