Education leaders say there’s a shortage of qualified superintendents in Pennsylvania schools. The Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators says fallout from the COVID pandemic and politicized school boards can claim most of the blame for the shortage. Experts say 35 percent of all superintendents in the state have changed jobs in the past two years. However, salaries are increasing for superintendents. In Pennsylvania, the state Department of Education says pay averages about 160-thousand-dollars for this current school year. That’s an almost 12 percent increase from five years ago.
