Over 100 people were arrested yesterday in the Pennsylvania State Capitol for protesting the state government’s investments in Israel. A spokesperson for the Department of General Services said 126 people were taken into custody at what was described as an unpermitted, unauthorized demonstration. The demonstrators were ordered to disperse before being arrested, issued citations and then released. The protestors were reportedly wearing t-shits that said “divest from genocide”, and targeted the Treasury Department’s investment in Israel bonds. The event was organized by the Philly Palestine Coalition, The Pennsylvania Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Jewish Voice for Peace.
