A Mahaffey woman and her father are facing animal cruelty charges after they took a dog to a wooded area and shot it in the head last November. Charged were 31 year old Nichole Daisher, and her 60 year old father Ricky Daisher. Reportedly the two, along with an unidentified 16 year old took the English Mastiff to a wooded area in Greenwood Township, where the teenager shot the dog in the head using a 9 mm pistol. The two reportedly told authorities they shot the dog after it had lunged at a child. The dog, whose name is Duke, survived the shooting, and fortunately was found by the president of Animals Matter of Clearfield County. The dog was not only shot, but was found with a shoestring tied around his muzzle. Both Daishers have been charged with third-degree felony aggravated cruelty to animals, among other charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10th. The Daishers signed Duke over to Animals Matter.
