Senator Bob Casey is sponsoring legislation that he says will help keep the drug fentanyl from being trafficked into Pennsylvania. The Democratic senator says the measure called the “FEND Off Fentanyl” Act, would sanction and block the financial assets of criminal organizations that make up the fentanyl supply chain. Also, his “Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act,” co-sponsored by Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, would allocate five-billion-dollars to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The funds would go toward hiring more border patrol officers. It would also pay to upgrade and introduce machines that can detect fentanyl in cars and trucks.
