State Senator Proposal to Establish Energy Office Considered Today

State Senator Gene Yaw’s measure to establish an Independent Energy Office in Pennsylvania is up for a third consideration today. Under the bill, the IEO would be charged with providing impartial, timely and data driven analysis to guide the state in determining and meeting future energy needs. Senator Yaw says it would be similar to the Independent Fiscal Office in that the IEO would not support or oppose any policy it analyzes. He says such an office is needed to guide the many different kinds of energy sectors in the state including gas, coal, nuclear, renewables, hydro, geo-thermal and wood sources.
