Penn State raised more than 16 million dollars this weekend for the benefit of THON, which ended yesterday afternoon at the Bryce Jordon Center. The over 16 million dollars that was raised beat last year’s record of slightly more than 15 million. THON began in 1973 and since then has raised nearly 220 million dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State’s Health Children’s Hospital to fight pediatric cancer. A total of 708 dancers participated for 46 straight hours beginning Friday evening. THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world.
