An Altoona man accused of stabbing his mother to death on Valentine’s Day, waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday. 30 year old Joshua Leyo faces charges of murder in the first and third degrees, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and numerous other charges. On February 14th police found the body of Maureen Mazenko on the floor of her Maple Avenue home. Leyo fled the scene and headed to the Pittsburgh International Airport where he later jumped from the second story of a parking garage, sustaining serious injuries. Reportedly, during an interview at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Leyo told authorities he stabbed his mother in the neck after they had had an argument. Leyo is being held in the Blair County Prison without bail. A formal arraignment is scheduled for April 5th.
