An Altoona man rendered guilty pleas yesterday to 10 felony counts of child rape. 36 year old Dewayne Johns was sentenced to 9.5 to 20 years, followed by 20 years’ probation. Johns rendered the pleas yesterday just before a five day jury trial was scheduled to begin at the Blair County Courthouse. Johns pled guilty to numerous charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child. In court, Johns reportedly apologized to the victim who was 12 years old in 2015, when she and Johns, who was 26 at the time, engaged in a sexual relationship. After he was sentenced yesterday, Johns was taken to the Blair County Prison, where he will await transfer to a state lockup.
