PA Senate DHS Budget Hearing Looks at Provider wage Boost

The governor’s proposal to boost wages for direct care workers in the field of intellectual disability and autism services has been the focus of a Senate budget hearing. Officials with the state Department of Human Services say the proposal, if enacted over the next five years, would eliminate the emergency waiting list for adults in need of home and community services. DHS is asking the state senators for a 217-million-dollar increase in state funds to be combined with federal funds so providers can offer services to more people.
