A Snow Shoe woman pled no contest last week in Centre County Court, for what authorities are calling an “horrific” case of elder abuse. Last February State Police arrested Loretta Stokes-McClusick following a months-long investigation into the abuse of an 84 year old woman. Investigators say when the elderly woman was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, she had severe injuries, severe weight loss, and the “lowest blood pressure ever seen for a patient in the hospital’s ER.” Last week Stokes-McClusick pled no contest to a charge of neglecting care of a dependent person. She also pled no contest to a second charge of financial exploitation. Stokes-McClusick is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date.
