The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has the latest guidelines for stopping for school buses on its website. The new procedures are in response to a state law that was updated last year. Act 19 allows school districts to install and operate automated camera systems for the purpose of enforcing the state Stopping Law. Officials say the new ideas also increase safety for all children who ride school buses across the state. Violations identified by cameras are reviewed by police under agreement with the school district. After that review the school district may issue a violation to the vehicle owner, including a three-hundred-dollar fine.
