A fire in a Cambria County nursing home yesterday resulted in eight individuals being taken to the hospital. The fire occurred last night at the Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Richland Township. People were evacuated from the facility, and 6 employees and 2 patients were taken to the Conemaugh Medical Memorial Center out of concern for smoke inhalation. The fire reportedly was contained to one room, and was quickly brought under control. The fire is believed to have started in an HVAC unit.
