The state House has approved legislation that would grant judges more leeway and perhaps be more lenient to defendants who might be victims of child abuse. House Bill 1843 passed by a 125-74 vote over objections that it would give judges too much latitude and that the legislation could trigger vigilante justice. Representative Katie Klunk, a Republican from York, is one of the co-sponsors of the measure.
