The Spotted Lanternfly is an invasive species native to Asia. In 2014 it was found in Pennsylvania, and has since spread to multiple counties which are now quarantined. What else? Kill it! Squash it, smash it…just get rid of it. Also, if you see their egg masses, get rid of them too. While the insects die over the winter, their eggs are covered with a putty-colored coating to protect them. The egg masses can be on trees and any outdoor surface. Get rid of those too, and the best way to do so is to scrape them off and smash them. The invasive pest, which comes from the Southern part Asia threatens valuable crops.
