A limited supply of free radon test kits are now available for state residents. Officials say the colorless, odorless gas that can cause cancer has been detected at high levels in about 40 percent of Pennsylvania residences. The mail-in kits let homeowners see if radon levels are within acceptable range for federal safety thresholds. The kits are available through the American Lung Association.
