Even though students are supposed to be banned from using cellphones at school, many of them apparently get away with it anyway. A Republican lawmaker from Lancaster wants to change that. Pennsylvania State Senator Ryan Aument wants to limit students by implementing cell phone lockers. He says the spaces would allow mobile devices to be put away safely during regular school hours. Schools that implement the idea would be eligible for grant funding. Aument says using the phones contributes to students’ poor mental health, citing statistics that reportedly show teen depression rates have gone up 150 percent due to cell phone use.
