State Police in Somerset have accused a local constable of impersonating a public servant and illegally removing an animal from a local farm. Police say 60 year old George Porter allegedly stole a ram from the victim’s farms, located along Greenville Road in Greenville Township, Somerset County. Authorities say Porter allegedly displayed a badge and identified himself as an officer of the law. Police later learned Porter had been elected as constable in Greenville Township, but had not completed any courses necessary to perform any duties. Investigators are asking anyone who may have received “similar treatment” from Porter to contact State Police in Somerset.
