A Centre County food processing plant has been fined over $700,000 by the federal Department of Labor, for exposing employees to hazardous chemicals. Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) began looking into Hanover’s Centre Hall plant last October after complaints were made about how the company was handling hazardous chemicals. OSHA handed out 71 violations to the company including nine repeat offenses, 51 serious violations and 11 other than serious violations. Hanover Foods now has 15 days to comply with the citations, request a conference with OSHA, or contest the violations.
