Pennsylvania is in the top ten on a list of U.S. states with the most power outages due to weather. The commonwealth landed at number nine in the rankings compiled by the nonprofit Climate Central. Data from the organization shows Pennsylvania experienced 82 major outages caused by weather between the year 2000 and 2023. The report defines a major outage as a service disruption that impacts at least 50-thousand customers. Texas had by far the most major outages during the study period at 210.
