Preliminary approval has been given this week to a 600-million dollar settlement offer to settle a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of folks affected by a 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The offer from rail company Norfolk Southern and other defendants would resolve claims filed by folks who live within 20-miles of the accident site. A federal judge signed off on the offer this week.
