The Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games are officially underway at Penn State’s University Park campus. Opening ceremonies took place last night. Nearly 1700 athletes, 600 coaches and 1,000 volunteers will participate in the SOPA’s largest statewide competition. Last year, the games were cancelled because of poor air quality due to smoky air from Canadian wildfires.
