Penn State officials announced yesterday that nearly 400 of its employees have accepted a buyout which translates into a 10% reduction in the workforce throughout the Commonwealth. Earlier this year, the university announced it was offering what it called a “Voluntary Separation Incentive Program.” The program was offered as a way to cut costs, given a significant drop in enrollment, and a need to lower its budget.
