A Johnstown caretaker has been accused of abandoning a non-verbal client inside a vehicle earlier this year after he quit his job. Authorities with the West Hills Police Department were contacted after the patient’s mother learned her son had been abandoned by the caretaker, identified as 32 year old Nathanial Bickhardt. Reportedly, Bickhardt messaged his supervisor stating that “he quit.” Police say the supervisor then contacted another caretaker to check on the patient, and that’s when the man was found unattended, inside a company van, in Westmont Borough. Bickhardt faces one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a dependent person. Bickhardt is to be formally arraigned on the charge next month.
