Police in Clearfield County are searching for a DuBois man who is accused of assaulting and attempting to rob a Burger King employee earlier this week. Police say 59 year old Richard Smeal allegedly attacked the employee of the Burger King, located along Bee Line Highway in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. Smeal reportedly approached the victim wearing a black mask, and demanded the night deposit from the restaurant. Authorities say the victim resisted, resulting in Smeal assaulting her with his fists and a weapon which may have been an airsoft gun. Police say the victim suffered severe injuries as a result of the struggle. Smeal reportedly fled the scene when another vehicle pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot. The driver of that vehicle was later identified as John Lentz, who was taken into custody. Smeal is described as 5’5”, blue eyes, a red/gray beard and red/brown hair. Police say Smeal should be considered dangerous, and the public is advised not to approach him, but to call 911 or the Sandy Township Police at 814-765-1533, if they know of his whereabouts.
