An Altoona man is behind bars today after he allegedly attacked and injured a relative with what has been described as a meat cleaver. Arrested on Wednesday was 38 year old Daniel Benson. Reportedly, Benson and the victim got involved in an argument at a residence along Washington Avenue in Altoona. The argument reportedly escalated after the victim slapped Benson in the face. Benson allegedly responded by grabbing what was described as a meat cleaver and began swinging it towards the victim. The victim was wounded in the attack. Benson was arraigned yesterday on charges of felony aggravated assault among other related offenses. He is currently in the Blair County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
