Officials Calling For Higher Pay For Child Care Workers

Some Pittsburgh-area officials are calling for higher pay for childcare workers across the state.  Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato visited the Learning and Educational Daycare Center in Homestead yesterday to draw attention to the issue.  Innamorato says care facilities like the one in Homestead face challenges finding and keeping employees due to the low wages that the industry sees across the Commonwealth.  She points out that the average pay for a pre-K childcare worker in Pennsylvania is just 15 dollars and 15 cents per hour.
