On Friday, officials in the Centre County Courthouse introduced a two year old Labrador mix, named Missie, to serve as the courthouse comfort K9. These dogs are specifically trained to comfort victims and witnesses, especially children, during the court process. Last month, officials announced that the comfort K9 program was returning, as Missie had to undergo a training program in order to become certified as a courthouse dog. In a press statement, it was noted that you may see Missie on the streets in Bellefonte, in Courtroom #1 on Wednesdays, at the Child Access Center in Bellefonte and anywhere else survivors and vulnerable community members need support.
