rip-current-warning-notice

A Chester County, Pennsylvania couple drowned in a rip current while on vacation in Florida with their six children, last week. Authorities have identified the parents as 51-year-old Brian Warter and 48-year-old Erica Wishard.  The two were swimming on Hutchinson Island, Thursday afternoon, when the couple and two of their teenage children were swept out to sea by a rip current. The teens were able to escape and they tried to rescue their parents, but according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, it became too dangerous and they were forced to swim ashore.  Responders found Warter and Wishard and gave them CPR on shore, but the couple was declared dead at a hospital. The risk of potentially life-threatening rip currents isn’t limited to Florida.  Two teens were swept away by the waves off a beach in Queens, New York on Friday.
