A mandatory boil water order has been issued for those living in Bellefonte and Spring Township, Centre County. According to the Bellefonte Borough Water Authority the boil water order is in effect until officials release more information and the water is safe to drink again. The authority says samples taken yesterday showed a disinfectant residual concentration in the water. There is concern the water may be contaminated by disease causing organisms that can result in cramping, nausea and diarrhea. It is not known at this time what caused the problem.
