Lawmaker Wants State Police Patrol Study

psp

One Pennsylvania lawmaker wants a study to see just how much the state police have been taking-over for local police departments across the state. Rep. Tim Brennan says too many towns or townships are eliminating their police department, and relying on the state police for protection and patrols. Brennan says the situation is now starting to weigh on the state police. He’s proposing an order that would have the Joint State Government Commission look at what the extra patrols are costing in terms of dollars and manpower. Brennan says local leaders who say they support the police need to get involved, because he says local police cuts are making it almost impossible for the state police to do their jobs.
