Since Pittsburgh’s Billy Price Band is performing at People’s Natural Gas Park in Johnstown on Saturday (July 6) as part of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Free Summer Concert Series, our “Local Song of the Week” spotlights a live performance by Billy and his band from September, 2016 at Pittsburgh’s Club Cafe before a sold-out hometown audience. This song, “It Ain’t A Juke Joint Without the Blues,” can also be found on Billy’s 2017 album “Alive and Strange.” The song (and album) showcase the talents of Billy’s soulful vocals, backed by David Dodd on drums, Tom Valentine on bass, Steve Delach on guitar, Jim Britton on keyboards, Eric DeFade on tenor sax, Matt Ferraro on tenor and baritone sax, and Joe Herndon on trumpet.

Attracting national attention in the 1970s with his collaboration with blues performer Roy Buchanan, Billy became popular with audiences in the Northeast and throughout Pennsylvania with the Keystone Rhythm Band, before forming his current band in 1990.

So kick back and enjoy some feisty Billy Price Band blues for our latest “Local Song of the Week!”
