Consumers, weary from inflation, could soon see changes coming to their favorite drinking establishments that will be easier on their wallets. Longer happy hours and combo meals that include an adult beverage are among a number of changes to the state’s liquor code, included in a bill the House approved last week and sent to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s desk. The governor is expected to sign it. The bill, is intended to help restaurants and bars that are still struggling to recover from the pandemic. The Pennsylvania Licensed Beverage and Tavern Association’s president Tom Tyler came up with the idea of changing the rule that limited happy hours to 14 hours a week and extend it to 24. The bill would take effect 60 days after it’s signed by Shapiro.
