Pennsylvanians will soon be seeing new license plates. Yesterday morning, Gov. Josh Shapiro revealed new Pennsylvania welcome signs and license plates with a “Let Freedom Ring” design. According to a press release, this design celebrates Pennsylvania as the birthplace of American democracy ahead of the country’s birthday in 2026. The Governor said, “With all eyes on Pennsylvania as we prepare to host our country’s 250th birthday in 2026, our new license plates and welcome signs will celebrate the best of what the Commonwealth has to offer and show the country why Pennsylvania is the Great American Getaway and the birthplace of American freedom.” The new plates will be ready to order in the spring of next year. PennDOT will provide fee information and replacement instructions on their website once the plates are available.
