The plan to crackdown on squatters in Pennsylvania is headed to Governor Josh Shapiro’s desk. The Pennsylvania House approved the legislation on Tuesday. The proposal limits squatters’ rights in the state, and opens the door to defiant trespass charges if people refuse to leave after a home’s owner orders them out. State Senator Dan Laughlin from Erie says squatting is becoming a larger and larger problem in the state, and this plan should fast-track some cases, and get owners their homes back quicker.
