Penn State trustees approved a nearly 10 billion dollar balanced budget on Friday that includes an increase in tuition costs. In-state tuition for University Park students will increase by 2% for the 2025-2026 school year for undergraduate students. That translates to an increase of slightly more than $400 a year. Tuition won’t increase for in-state students at the branch campuses. Nonresident tuition for undergraduate students will increase by 4%. The tuition rate increases, along with other budget expenditures, resolves most of the $44.5 million dollar budget deficit in the 2023-2024 year. The current projected deficit will now be less than $7 million. Two years ago it topped $190 million.
