Newly released details reveal that the man who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler planned to use explosives to escape from the scene.  House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul of Texas says Thomas Crooks was found to be in possession of a detonation device when he was shot and killed by members of the U.S. Secret Service.  That device, McCaul said on CBS’ Face the Nation, was linked to two bombs which were in Crooks’ vehicle.  McCaul says Crooks had planned to detonate the bombs to create a diversion so that he could get off the roof of the building he shot at Trump from and escape from the scene.
