Water Conservation Underway in Bedford Borough

corn

Lack of rain has prompted a mandatory water conservation notice in the borough of Bedford. With little rain, and water levels low in the Raystown branch of the Juniata River, the borough issued the notice to help conserve water.  Residents are prohibited form nonessential water uses including watering lawns and gardens, washing paved surfaces and operating decorative water fountains and artificial waterfalls. The water conservation efforts do not prevent farmers from tending to their crops.  Farmers are being hit hard by the drought as the sun is stunting growth, and scorching crops.
