Blair Co. Commissioners Favor Trail Authority

trail

The Blair County Commissioners are leaning towards the development of a trail and recreation authority, however yesterday they delayed action to move further, to allow for more discussions with their solicitor in Pittsburgh.  The commissioners want to be in a position to be able to define the authority’s responsibilities before they move forward.  During yesterday’s commissioner’s meeting, it was noted that the county can create this authority without relying on local tax dollars.  Earlier this year the commissioners held a public meeting to discuss the future of trails in the area, with 60 individuals showing up.  Many in the audience expressed a desire for the county to take a leadership role in the future development of trail management, as more and more people are using  them, and they could benefit the local economy.
