Here’s a listing of what will be happening on the “Homegrown Rocker” during August. Catch the program every Sunday night from 8 to 10 p.m. on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), from 10 p.m. to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm), and via podcast after the show airs on Q94’s website (in “The Professor’s Classroom”).

AUGUST 4 – Cover Song Special: Although the central focus of the “Homegrown Rocker” is on original music created by area bands and artists, once a year we explore how area musicians cover and interpret songs created by others (mostly famous artists). The annual “Cover Song Special” will check out how area musicians apply their own flavor to other musicians’ song creations, and sometimes reimagine the songs in ways that make us consider such songs in a different light!

AUGUST 11 – Visiting the Mailboxes: We’ll continue our exploration of more new recordings that have arrived in the program’s mailboxes in recent days and weeks!

AUGUST 18 – Family Jam Preview: Guest Richie Servello will join us to discuss the upcoming Family Jam Fundraiser for Family Services Incorporated, which takes place on Saturday, September 7 at Altoona’s Railroaders Memorial Museum. Richie will provide details about the event, and we will hear music from some of the bands and artists performing that day!

AUGUST 25 – The Jukehouse Bombers: Western PA-based blues rockers The Jukehouse Bombers will release a brand new studio album in September, and members of the group will join us in the studio to discuss the album, plus we’ll air some of the songs from the album!
