An Altoona man is behind bars after he reportedly threatened a woman and her child, along with shouting racial slurs at them. Arrested earlier this week was 26-year-old Mertcan Vardar. Logan Township Police were called to the 600 block of Rutgers Lane in Altoona after a woman reported that Vardar was standing at a window holding a firearm, threatening to kill them. Vardar was taken to the Blair County Prison with bail set at $100,000. He is facing charges of ethnic intimidation, as well as terroristic threats and simple assault. His preliminary hearing is set for August 15th.
