Reports of spotted lanternfly sightings are down across Pennsylvania. The bugs are a non-native and invasive plant hopper, which destroy plants and trees. The state Department of Agriculture says sightings of spotted lanternflies are down about 75-percent right now as compared to this time last year. However, the most reports in the entire state are in the Pittsburgh area, with nearly one-thousand reported sightings being reported so far this year in Allegheny County. State officials still ask that residents destroy a spotted lanternfly if spotted.
