Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike announced yesterday that motorists traveling through the Somerset County area will soon be able to travel on six lanes. Construction crews are nearing completion of the reconstruction project west of the Somerset Interchange which will open six lanes on the Turnpike. Officials say the project was part of a larger initiative to rebuild the Turnpike. The project began in January of 2021 and cost an estimates $135 million, which is paid for by toll fees.
