Leaders at Carnegie Mellon University are adding some new rules related to on-campus demonstrations and protests.  An updated university policy states rallies and other “expressive events” with 25 or more people have to be registered in advance or they could be prevented or disbanded by officials.  Tents and other structures that are used to occupy campus space are prohibited as well.  The rules are a response to the protests related to the Israel-Hamas war that disrupted operations at many colleges this spring, including the University of Pittsburgh.
