The woman involved in a crash caused by U.S. Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania, has filed a personal injury claim. The accident happened in Maryland this past July. 62-year-old Jennifer Campbell of Virginia said in a statement, “I think it’s important to recognize that I’m a real human being, and this crash left me with real injuries.” Her attorney calls it noteworthy that no charges were filed, or citations issued after two cars were towed, and three people went to the hospital as a precaution. He said in his experience, with excessive speed, a collision and injuries, charges would have been filed. Maryland State Police addressed why charges were not filed: “The Department is committed to enhancing the safety of all who travel on Maryland’s highways by ensuring our troopers are both trained and provided appropriate discretion in their duties. Unless the trooper witnessed the crash, evidence of a violation must be established through an investigation. The MDSP allows troopers to conduct independent investigations and to utilize discretion regarding the issuance of traffic citations.”
