Beginning today, Altoona Area School District football fans will see stricter enforcement of guidelines at Mansion Park, after an incident at the game opener, where a student was caught bringing a taser into the stadium. The event prompted school officials to review current guidelines, and enforce stricter ones. Under the new rules, students must present a valid ID before entry. No loitering will be permitted and students are encouraged to sit in the designated student section, or with parents or guardians. Fans are to sit in bleachers and not congregate along the fence, and in the main concourse areas. No backpacks will be allowed. Students or spectators who throw food, drink or other items will be escorted from the stadium, and may be banned for the remainder of the school year. School officials note the new guidelines are meant to prevent any danger from arising, and keeping everyone safe.
