Governor Josh Shapiro announced new grants for Pennsylvania schools yesterday. Shapiro says the state is committing a total of 75-million dollars to assist 109 school districts, 9 of which are in our region, with environmental repair. The funds are meant to help districts eliminate environmental hazards including lead, mold, and asbestos on campuses. Schools in Blair, Centre, Cambria, Clearfield and Somerset Counties will be receiving these funds. The announcement was made at Antietam School District in Berks County, which dealt with severe flooding last year.
