Microsoft Announces Plan To Buy Energy From TMI To Help Power Server Farms

Microsoft is moving ahead with plans to use Three Mile Island to help power its server farms.  Company officials with Constellation Energy Corporation announced that the software giant has agreed to purchase energy from the plant to help reduce its carbon footprint.  No timeline was announced.  The news comes five years after Three Mile Island shut down Unit 1 near Harrisburg for economic reasons.  That reactor is located next to the infamous Unit 2, which was shut down 45 years ago, following a partial meltdown linked to human and mechanical errors.
