Gary, the 16-year-old dachshund who was rescued from a storm drain in Johnstown on Tuesday, has passed away. According to his owner, Gary “died peacefully” in his arms, after having been taken to a vet in Pittsburgh. Sadly Gary suffered injuries while he was missing, and had to be put down. The dog had been missing since last Friday and was discovered Tuesday by a school student who was waiting at a bus stop. It took six hours, and the help of many to rescue Gary from the pipe. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist with the costs associated with Gary’s medical care.
